A Brief Insight Into What's Happening in the Parker County Clerk's Office
The County Clerk's immediate general administrative duties include securing a bond, taking an oath of office, deputizing staff and securing errors and omissions insurance herself and all her appointed deputies. Deputy County Clerks act on behalf of the County Clerk by signing documents, filing all new pleadings, documents and issuing citations and warrants in both the Courts and Records & Deeds Divisions, using the seal of Parker County to authenticate actions of the County Clerk, certify and issue documents, administer oaths, as well as other numerous actions.

The primary statutory provisions for the support of the Records & Deeds Division, both County Courts at Law, Criminal and Civil Divisions, as well as Parker County Probate Court are found in the Texas Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, Government Code, Rules of Civil Procedure, Local Government Code, Health and Safety Code and Estate Code, f/k/a Probate Code. A specific and vast knowledge of all the foregoing statutes is required to conduct business in every division of the County Clerk's office. A working knowledge and understanding of the many laws and statutes of the State of Texas, as well as local rules, is necessary.

In addition to real estate records, the Records & Deeds office is responsible for full scale processing of assumed name certificates, applications for local option sales (beer and wine), DD214's, brands, bonds, agendas, plats and a vast array of other legal documents. The Vital Statistics Division brings forth another set of duties and obligations in issuing and certifying birth and death records. All marriage applications and licenses are processed in the County Clerk's Office according to the guidelines set out by statute.

Finally, and certainly not least, among the other diversified legal duties of the County Clerk is to act as an ex-officio member of the Commissioner's Court. It is there the County Clerk records and maintains minutes of each official session of Commissioner's Court, including regular, special, budget, plat, and emergency sessions. All documents and other paperwork submitted during a session of Commissioner's Court is transcribed and permanently maintained by the County Clerk.
