Responsibilities
The Parker County District Attorney represents the state in the prosecution of felony criminal cases. Our office frequently works with law enforcement officers in the investigation and preparation of cases to be heard in the district courts of Parker County.

In addition to criminal prosecutions, the Parker County District Attorney represents the state in asset forfeiture lawsuits brought pursuant to Article 59 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. These lawsuits typically seek to seize property and money used in, or derived from, criminal activity.

Judgments
The Parker County District Attorney also prosecutes juvenile offenders who have committed offenses that, if committed by an adult, would be punishable by jail time or prison time.

The Parker County District Attorney determines whether prosecution in any given case should be instituted and, if instituted, litigated to a successful conclusion. Above all, the office is guided by Article 2.11 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure which states, in relevant part, that: “It shall be the primary duty of all prosecuting attorneys, including any special prosecutors, not to convict, but to see that justice is done.”

Authority
As with all elected county officials, the Parker County District Attorney has ultimate authority over the operations of his office, including the authority to hire and fire personnel, direct their daily activities, and to determine how to use all other resources allocated to the office during the budget process.
