Kent Rathbun, chef behind Abacus, Jasper’s and a private event space called the Kitchen at 6130, has plans to open a new restaurant in summer 2015.

Plans call for a Jasper’s — Rathbun’s fourth — in Richardson as part of a mixed-use development called CityLine. This is a big project: Our Steve Brown wrote on the Biz Beat Blog that “the $1.5 billion, 186-acre CityLine project” will include “3,925 multi-family residential units, 300,000 square feet of grocery, restaurant, entertainment and retail space and three parks.” It will house offices for State Farm and Raytheon, plus an Aloft hotel, LOOK Cinemas and a Whole Foods Market, among other things.

The Jasper’s will be located at Plano Road and State Street in Richardson. Colin Fitzgibbons, a VP for the development group behind the project, said in a statement Jasper’s will be the “front door” to the development.

Rathbun already operates Jasper’s in Plano, Austin and The Woodlands. Some of the dinner menu items at the nearby Plano restaurant are slow-smoked baby back ribs ($32), bone-in cowboy rib-eye ($50) and Dr Pepper braised lamb shank ($34).

“Opening a fourth location in the Richardson area further advances my career goal and I am extremely excited about what the future holds,” Rathbun said in a statement.
