Drillship
Repsol and their partner, Ecopetrol, have made a deepwater discovery in the Gulf of Mexico with their Leon prospect. Utilizing the ENSCO DS-5 (UDW drillship), Repsol drilled the well to a depth of 31,771 feet encountering more than 492 feet of net oil pay in a column over 1,312 feet. Leon is located on Keathley Canyon 642 in approximately 6,119 feet of water. Chevron's 2009 Buckskin discovery is approximately 31 miles from Leon in Keathley Canyon 872/785.

BOT Lease Co. Ltd placed an order with Keppel FELS for a KFELS Super B Class designed jackup capable of working in water depths up to 400' with a rated drilling depth capacity of 35,000'. The unit will also feature accommodations for 150 personnel on board and a 2 million pound hookload capacity. Japan Drilling will manage the rig which will provisionally be named Hakuryu 15. Delivery is scheduled for late 2016 and the construction cost is valued at US $240 million. Channel checks have suggested that the rig will be outfitted with NOV equipment.
