Lauren Mendelsohn elected to Students for Sensible Drug Policy Board of Directors
This member of the Class of 2016 will serve two years as vice-chair on the board of directors of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), an international network of students concerned about the impact of drug use on communities around the globe. She hopes to increase diversity within the organization and in the wider reform movement. Mendelsohn is founder and president of Law Students for Sensible Drug Policy at UCI Law and has been active with SSDP since her freshman year at University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned a bachelor’s in psychology. Dean Chemerinsky has been awarded the State Bar of California’s 2014 Bernard E. Witkin Medal, given to individuals who have helped shape the legal landscape through an extraordinary body of work. Strong showing for UCI Law team at Latino/a National Moot Court Competition
Andres Gallegos ’16, Nefi Acosta ’16 and Amelia Alvarez ’15 represented UCI Law for the first time at the National Latino/a Law Students Association Moot Court Competition and represented UCI Law well. The team won the award for Best Petitioner’s Brief and made it to the final eight in the oral advocacy round. To prepare for the competition, the three students were mooted by professors and coached by Academic Skills Director Linda Puertas. The LLSA students hope this is the start of a long tradition of UCI Law success at the annual contest. Read more >
