'Time' goes behind the scenes of riveting 'Serial' podcast

“Serial” has taken over the podcast world with its riveting investigation into the mystery of how a then-17 year old Adnan Syed was convicted of the brutal murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. Time goes behind the scenes with “Serial” host and executive producer Sarah Koenig to see how the pieces do – and don’t – fall into place.

“There’s definitely something here that I don’t understand, and that the public never got to hear. Something is missing in this story. Something’s not quite right,” Koenig tells Time.

The first spin-off from the classic This American Life radio show, “Serial” takes a deep dive into the murder’s fallacies in the judicial process. Koenig tells Time about how errors and oversights made on behalf of Syed’s attorney may have been the deciding factor in his conviction.

Read Koenig’s entire interview with Time, and see what she thinks about expanding the podcast into a series.

For this year’s annual reunions issue, Entertainment Weekly spoke with all five surviving members of Monty Python about their Eric Idle-directed shows last summer at London’s massive O2 arena, the legendary comedy team’s first live performances in more than three decades. In the hope of provoking some of the semi-friendly badinage for which they are famous, we also asked the quintet—Idle, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, and Terry Jones—which other Python member irritated them most in the course of rehearsing and performing Monty Python Live (mostly) One Down Five To Go.
