Biography

Representative Armando Walle, the oldest of five children, was born and raised in northeast Houston by a single mother. He graduated with honors from MacArthur High School in the Aldine Independent School District. The first in his family to pursue a higher education, Armando is a proud graduate of the University of Houston, having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He is currently pursuing a law degree at the University of Houston.

Representative Walle was elected to represent House District 140 in the Texas House of Representatives in 2008. Since taking office, Rep. Walle has focused on the issues that matter most to the people of District 140. Rep. Walle has supported proposals to improve quality of life in the Aldine and Northside communities, increase safety in local neighborhoods, and encourage local economic development. He also passed a comprehensive graffiti reform bill aimed at protecting victims of graffiti crime and increasing penalties for graffiti offenders.

Rep. Walle serves as Deputy Floor Leader for the House Democratic Caucus and is a member of the Insurance Committee and the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee. He has previously served on the Human Services, Urban Affairs and Rules and Resolutions Commitees. During the 2008 Legislative Session, he was selected "Freshman of the Year" by the members of the Women's Health Caucus.

Prior to his election, Armando worked with Congressman Gene Green for six years. During that time, Armando led several community projects including Immunization Day, Paying for College workshops and senior citizen issue forums. He also served on the staffs of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Councilmember Carol Mims Galloway. Armando began his career in public service by participating in Senator Rodney Ellis's Texas Legislative Internship Program.

Armando serves on the Board of Directors for the Aldine-Greenspoint YMCA. He has worked to increase outreach for community service programs, such as youth sports leagues and adult GED programs, for Aldine residents. Armando also served as President of the Ambassadors International Ballet Folklorico and as Chair of the Harris County Tejano Democrats. During his time at the University of Houston, he spearheaded efforts to recruit and retain qualified Hispanic students to the University. Armando also served as a student mentor for Students Aspiring to a Better Education, encouraging at-risk high school students to stay in school and pursue a college education.

Armando resides in northeast Harris County with his wife Debbie Dimas Walle, a lifelong Aldine resident and graduate of St. Pius X High School and Texas Woman's University. Armando and Debbie are proud parents of their son Armando Pedro Walle and are members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Houston.
