FIRST IN PI … PORTERFIELD LOWENTHAL ADDS JEREMY RABINOVITZ: The government relations firm Porterfield, Lowenthal, Fettig & Sears has tapped Jeremy Rabinovitz as senior executive vice president, the firm tells PI. Rabinovitz comes on board after seven years at the firm ML Strategies. He’s also a veteran of Capitol Hill, where he worked for more than two decades for a number of Democratic members. During his time on the Hill, he worked alongside PLFS president Andrew Lowenthal when they both were top staffers for Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.). “Twenty years ago, Jeremy and I sat next to each other working on legislative and political initiatives for Congresswoman Maloney,” said Lowenthal in a statement. “It will be great working together again and I know Jeremy’s expertise and vast experience will greatly benefit the firm and our clients.”

SQUIRE PATTON INKS EBOLA DRUGMAKER: Hemispherx BioPharma, Inc. has hired Squire Patton Boggs to help raise awareness and tackle regulatory issues around two potential Ebola drugs. The company believes that two of its products — the drugs Ampligen and Alferon — could possibly be effective as treatments for the virus that’s currently ravaging several West African countries. Squire Patton will work communicating the company’s message to officials in the United States and abroad. “We are pleased to establish a strategic relationship with [Squire Patton Boggs], one of the world’s finest governmental, international relations, biopharma licensing and corporate M&A law firms,” said Thomas Equels of Hemispherx in a statement. “We welcome [Squire Patton] to the Hemispherx team effort to bring our experimental drug Ampligen and FDA approved drug Alferon online as potential therapeutics for Ebola and other lethal viruses for which no effective therapy exists.” Stuart Pape, Ed Newberry, Taryn Frideres, Robert Kapla and Kevin O'Neill will all work on the account for Squire Patton.

GOOD MONDAY AFTERNOON where it’s been 22 years since the first World Series game ever played outside the United States took place in Canada. The Toronto Blue Jays were added as an expansion team in 1977 and reached the World Series for the first time in 1992. On Oct. 20, 1992, they beat the Atlanta Braves at home at the SkyDome in Toronto. They would go on to win the series in six games. WHO IS EMMA KING? This Ford lobbyist will be a contestant on “Jeopardy!” on Monday’s episode. The game show airs on Washington, D.C.’s WJLA at 7:30 PM. A photo of King with Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek is here: http://bit.ly/1DsHzqp

AF&PA WINS REAL ESTATE AWARD FOR DIGS: The American Forest & Paper Association was honored last week with the 2014 Association Real Estate Award for large trade associations at a reception hosted by ASAE. “A lot of work went into creating a space that reflects the collaboration that takes places between our members, staff and other stakeholders to accomplish our mission, and we are proud that others in Washington, D.C. are taking notice,” said AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman. The association moved into its space at 1101 K Street NW in November 2013 — which it described as an “up-and-coming” neighborhood offering easier access to Capitol Hill than its previous location at 19th and L Street NW.

ALSO, HAPPY FOREST PRODUCTS WEEK: AF&PA’s Donna Harman issued this statement regarding President Barack Obama’s proclamation recognizing National Forest Products Week: “We join with the president in celebrating the hardworking men and women in America who use forests to make products that benefit our lives. National Forest Products Week is an opportunity for each of us to stop and appreciate the importance of the many renewable and recyclable forest products we have come to rely upon for their versatility and convenience.”

HEART ASSOCIATION HIRES FITTING: After three and a half years at Dewey Square Group, Matt Fitting is headed to the American Heart Association. “I’ll soon be joining the American Heart Association’s federal advocacy team as Grassroots Manager,” he writes in an email.

SCHAPKER TO NGWA: Lauren Schapker announced in an email on Friday to colleagues and friends that she’s leaving the Portland Cement Association for the National Ground Water Association. “It’s been a pleasure working with you throughout my time at PCA, and I look forward to continuing to do so in the future,” she wrote.

ASSOCIATIONS PROMOTE TEEN DRIVER SAFETY: Teen Driver Safety Week kicks off Monday. The awareness effort is the brainchild of both the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility and the Governors Highway Safety Association.

CORNERSTONE GETS PMA: The Produce Marketing Association is expanding its presence in Washington by hiring Cornerstone Government Affairs, under the leadership of Hunt Shipman. Helena Bottemiller Evich reports for POLITICO Pro: The new representation, which was announced at PMA’s Fresh Summit, in Anaheim, Calif., today, is part of the association’s new strategic plan, which includes “strengthening and restructuring its approach to addressing those issues that are most critical to the global produce industry like food safety, trade and consumption.”

SCHNEIDER TO FORM NEW FIRM: ABC News Senior Vice President of Communications Jeffrey Schneider is leaving the network to start his own communications firm, ABC News President James Goldston announced on Monday, PI colleague Hadas Gold reports. After 14 years with ABC, Schneider is launching Schneider Global Strategy, specializing in media relations and crisis management. ABC News and the Disney ABC Television Group will be his first clients, Goldston said. “It has been an incredible honor and privilege to work with such exceptional journalists over the past 14 years. I’m very grateful for the thrilling experiences I've had at the news division and embark on this new path with tremendous affection and respect for all the people of ABC News,” Schneider said in a statement. http://politi.co/1tF4qOy

ELSEWHERE IN THE INFLUENCE WORLD:

DITTUS: NFL NEEDS BETTER STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS: The “NFL’s marketing communications is strong, its strategic comms is not,” writes Gloria Story Dittus, founder of Story Partners in PR Week. “The NFL’s lack of a strategic communications plan has been clear, not just in the immediate aftermath of the latest Ray Rice revelations, but for months. This insulated approach kept out diverse perspectives that could have steered the ship through stormy waters. … In public affairs, the right people at the table may be the ones you least expect.” Read her take on the situation here: http://bit.ly/1wriud9
