John Wiley Price "Knows What Happened" at Presbyterian in Ebola Case

Just before heading into a private executive session to address what he called "security issues" related to the Ebola virus' arrival in Dallas, County Commissioner John Wiley Price told his fellow commissioners and County Judge Clay Jenkins what led to the temporary release of an Ebola-stricken Thomas Duncan from Dallas' Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

"We know what happened at Presbyterian whether we say it or not," Price said. "If a person who looks like me shows up without insurance, they don't get the same treatment."

The issues at Presbyterian, Price said, were the "elephant in the room."

After the executive session, Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Zach Thompson and Christopher Perkins, the medical director for county health services, gave an update on the Ebola situation.

Duncan remains the only confirmed case and none of the 48 persons currently being monitored after having contact with Duncan have shown any symptoms, Perkins said.

Thompson took the opportunity to fight back against media reports that his department was slow to respond after first being notified of the Duncan case.

"There was no misstep by DCHHS," Thompson said. Any reports that say otherwise, he said, are "lying."

DCHHS, according to Thompson, began tracing Duncan's potential contacts immediately and continues to do so.

"I don't want us to get caught up in the Ebola hype and fright," Price said, after reminding the court that it was flu season and commending Thompson for DCHHS' work.

Officials at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas have issued a number of contradictory explanations over the past week to explain how Duncan was at first released from the hospital's emergency room after going there complaining of fever.

For a guy with no insurance they sure gave him some expensive tests. Price is just being Price.

If someone looked like J W Price showed up at the ER with his rows, bowtie, and dummas glasses....the hospital staff would have called either the Zoo or the Circus to come get their escaped gorilla.
 or a runaway clown.

Any story that starts out, "John Wiley Price Knows" is deserving of huge skepticism - not because of the author, but because Price is famous for only "knowing" what makes him money or prestige.

John Wiley Price, I do not know if you will bother to read these comments are not, but the very idea that Presbytarian turn away that man because of his color is ridiculous.  I, for one, am very dissappointed with your comments, and i know, if my father was still alive, he would be shaking his head at your behavior.

Is this the Christian way you are always talking about?

Mr. Duncan died of Ebola and its related deteriorating damage to the body at 7:15 this morning.

Now, the public health challenges will be doing an autopsy without spreading the disease, and preparing it for cremation.  (The notion of embalming him would be completely nuts!)

This Jim Schutze panic is getting out of control, there's this from CNN concerning the panic in Spain (Schutze is widely read):

"He was concerned about the couple's dog, named Excalibur, saying that authorities wanted to put it down."

A world gone mad, now they're sacrificing puppies.

Reportedly, Lieberian backpackers and tourists in the US are sporting Canadian flags to ward off attack as well. When does it end?

John Wiley Price is a criminal, and he may soon be doing time in the joint. He is also a blatant racist, and is one of the few public officials for sale in Dallas.

He is also not all that smart.  So, rather than learning about Ebola BEFORE shooting off his big mouth, and making sure he has his facts R I G H T, he just rails against one of the best hospitals in Texas and the staff -- mostly because they are white and the lying Libian is black.

If it smells like racism, if it walks like racism, and if it sounds like racism, it's usually racism.

When this is all said and done, Texas Health will have a lot to answer for. However, I do suspect the timing and motivation for his comments are twofold.

1. He is try to deflect from Thompson's failures in securing the apartment and it's occupants. Having unprotected deputies going into the apartment and unprotected workers power washing the sidewalk. True some of these May not be under Thompson's scope of control, but he certainly appeared to sit by while they were happening.

2. Jessie's in town. JWP needs some support once his trial starts. Since I believe that it has currently been pushed back to January 2016, and it can be quite cold then, some support from some northern states might be needed. Not many dallasites will stand outside in the cold to protest.

Well John, it would look mighty suspicious claiming to be uninsured, what with the $2,000 suit, $1,200 shoes, $1,800 eyeglasses, $5,000 wristwatch, etc.

8 days for the race baiting to begin, maybe the FBI took some of JWP's mojo with them.

All of this is a nice distraction from the Enterovirus D68 that came across our open border in unvaccinated illegals and is now killing kids all over the country.  Technically, it's a worse problem than Obola.

@noblefurrtexas there will be no autopsy nor embalming or any handling of the body at all, cremation will not be at a normal facility, as the body is not considered highly toxic material according to Federal Guidelines recently released relative to Duncan's demise.

@noblefurrtexas Duncan should have been flown in Jesse Jackson's plane to Ferguson Missouri to a local free clinic for his treatment maybe....heck if he got well enough, he could have been able to do some recreational looting with all the other boos.

I went to the ER at Texas Health Presbyterian because my doctor said to get to the ER immediately and it was the closest. Even though I had Blue Cross insurance I had to pay some money up front for them to admit me. They made it very clear that if I didn't pay they'd just give me something for pain and send me away. It wasn't about what I looked like or my medical condition.

First, there is no vaccine for Entereovirus D68, so everybody is "unvaccinated" and will stay that way for the near term.

Second, the virus was first observed over 50 years ago so it did NOT come "across our open border"

Are you keeping up with this timeline because this is exactly what happened to Mr. Duncan. Presbyterian saw him and gave him antibiotic and sent him home they didn't care to treat his symptoms they sent him away. He returned a few days later and that's when they wanted to make the news of wanting to "Help" the fist Texas Ebolo case. They still gave him an experimental drug which served as no help to save this Africa Americans Uninsured Life.

Ross Perot would have gotten the best care and medication money could buy without flashing his insurance information and without insurance.

STOP RUNNING FROM THE TRUTH and be honest with the world on this because there's no rose colored glasses for us all!

noblefurrtexas

@cbrich I think you have a very warped idea of what happens in Presby's emergency receiving area.

Mr. Duncan should have gone to a regular physician to be evaluated as to what - if anything - was necessary.  Instead, he followed the illegal alien route and went to an emergency room expecting free care.

He presented as someone with a minor complaint; not the symptoms of a dread disease.  For THAT reason, he was given free medication, told he didn't need to stay, and who to call in case he wasn't over it in a few days -- or felt worse.

There was a screwup in the ObamaCare requirements for digital files on all patients which was responsible for the doctor not knowing he might have been exposed to Ebola.  That is NOT the doctor's fault, and NOT the nurses fault.

Presby treats all manner of uninsured people every day.  In fact, many of them receive treatments worth over $10,000 for free, and are never billed.

But, this racial crap is so far off base that it's beyond stupid; it appears agenda driven.

@cbrich Ross Perot donated the millions of dollars that build the Margot Perot Womens' Care unit. I would HOPE they would do whatever for him he needs.

Duncan did nothing for anyone except father an out of wedlock kid he never saw for 20 years and lied to get to the US for health treatment, and put everyone in his "family" and their neighbors at risk of death...He did not deserve anything...but he got the best treatment that was available.

If you cannot get your head around that situation, then STFU and go pound sand.

JWP is implying that Texas Health Presbyterian turns away black men without insurance. I'm saying they turn away white women with good insurance too unless they pay something up front at the ER. They'd turn you away too.

I have been to the Presby ER multiple times over the years.  I have never been asked up front for money.  If my condition allows it, they do ask if I have health plan coverage and with whom.

The last time that I went, I was in pretty bad shape.  When I was wheeled up to the desk, they just said "He doesn't look good.  Get him back here now."

@ColonelAngus @bvckvs @parvathi.09876 Most people I know don't hate immigrants, and many of us are the beneficiaries of immigrants several generations back who came here legally.

MOST of the people I know HATE and DESPISE illegal immigration, and the trespassing money-grubbing people who have no respect for our laws or The Rule of Law, and who come here for the freebies.

These jerks cost Americans billions of dollars a year in welfare, hospital visits and medical care, food stamps, and causing car accidents and deaths without proof of insurance or financial responsibility.  MOST of them don't even have a drivers license and have never taken a driving course.

And, now they have the damned gall to file lawsuits against us because we don't already give them enough.

@bvckvs @parvathi.09876 What Presbyterian Hospital does is basically no concern of JWP.  He has so screwed up Parkland by using it as his own affirmative action hiring agency for years, that it's having to be completely reorganized.  After all, illegal aliens demand quality care.

The job of a commissioner doesn't include "racism" or protecting blacks over white.  Of course, it also doesn't include stealing over a million dollars from your own race and constituents.

I never had much used for this jerk, but it's now over 100%.
