David Stover moves into top job at Noble Energy

David Stover is taking over as chief executive of Noble Energy, beginning a succession plan the Houston independent oil and gas company announced in April.

Chairman and CEO Charles Davidson will continue to serve as chairman of the board until after the company’s 2015 annual meeting, when the board plans to elect Stover chairman, the company said Tuesday. Davidson said in April that he would retire May 1, 2015.

Stover, now president and chief operating officer, will retain the title of president as he moves into the top job.

The company also named two executive vice presidents:

  • Susan Cunningham will have responsibility for global exploration, new ventures, frontier, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and business innovation activities.
  • Gary  Willingham will head the company’s global production, drilling, major projects and supply chain.

The company operates onshore in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale and Colorado’s DJ Basin, and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, Eastern Mediterranean and West Africa.
