One of the country’s top “green” automotive manufacturers — GreenTech Automotive — recently celebrated the grand opening of its newest production facility in Tunica, Mississippi, as per recent reports.

The opening of the new manufacturing facility means that GreenTech Automotive now possesses a full-scale plant capable of producing large numbers of the company’s upcoming two-seat Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV), the MyCar.

“We started GreenTech Automotive with the vision to make energy-efficient cars that are so inexpensive the average American could afford to buy them,” stated Charles Wang, chairman and CEO of GreenTech Automotive (GTA). “In the past five years we have completely redesigned and reengineered the all-electric MyCar; developed strategic relationships with major automotive OEMs; and attracted, trained and retained a dedicated workforce in Mississippi. Completing this state-of-the-art facility, designed and built specifically for GTA’s unique production needs, brings us another step closer to making that dream a reality.”

The company’s chief operating officer, Gilbert Villarreal, chimed in as well, saying: “The transition from our pilot manufacturing facility in Horn Lake is nearly complete. Production equipment will be installed and operational this month, which keeps us on schedule to begin production of the 2015 MyCar next month. We’re looking forward to job fairs in November and coming months that will help us reach staffing capacity, and will continue to sign dealers and distributors as we look forward to a productive 2015.”

The exact address — for those interested — is 1 GreenTech Drive, Robinsonville, MS, 38664. The facility was built at a location specially selected by GTA back in 2009.

Production at the facility will be initially focused around the previously mentioned two-seat NEV, the MyCar — a zero-emissions vehicle that offers “segment-leading range per charge” and that can be recharged with nothing needed but a regular 110V AC or 220V AC wall outlet.

Production at the new facility is currently expected to begin sometime in the 4th quarter of 2014.

Sales number? you might have to see them produce a vehicle first, which they haven’t done, the ones you see were built in china and are just for the dog and pony show.

With a top speed of 25mph… no thank you

I’d be willing to be that there is a speed limiter that can be hacked. I agree, 25mph, noway, but if I could get 45 out of it it could be useful in my environment.

Remember, one of the reasons for the NHC designation is to avoid all those pesky Federal safety regs that would double the cost, and don’t do all that much for you at urban speeds.

“One of the country’s top “green” automotive manufacturers — GreenTech Automotive” and yet I don’t think I’ve ever seen then in EV sales numbers.
