Department of Neighborhoods

The Department of Neighborhoods (DON) focuses on resolving neighborhood issues and improving quality of life for Houstonians.

Through our seven divisions, we provide a wide range of programs and services addressing education, the interests of people with disabilities, citizens’ concerns, volunteerism, international communities, gang prevention outreach and neighborhood inspections and code enforcement to reduce blight and substandard residential property.  DON works in collaboration with other City departments and community partners to improve government responsiveness and serve as a centralized resource for accessing City services.
