Max Poglia, the Brazilian artist who designed the visual identities of Buvette restaurant and Richard Gere’s upstate New York inn, handcrafts custom utility knives in his spare time. Made with repurposed iron, bone and horn, the ruggedly handsome objects come with simple care instructions — “Hand wash only, dry well and lubricate with kitchen oil” —  and a warning that the knives “are not meant to remain pristine” and “will eventually rust.” They’re a throwback to simpler days for the modern man.
