DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Animal Services is making sure Nina Pham’s small dog will be well taken care of while she is in isolation at Texas Presbyterian Hospital fighting the Ebola virus.
Bentley, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, seen kissing Pham’s cheek in one of the photos released by her family, has been taken into custody and is being cared for at an undisclosed location.
Dallas Animal Services is not caring for the dog, but has launched a donation drive to collect needed items for the dog.

The agency posted a picture (see below) telling supporters how they can help support Bentley while he is in quarantine. DAS is asking for donations of paper towels, pee pads, toys and rawhide chewys. Any extra donations will go toward the care of other dogs awaiting adoption.
The Facebook post racked up more than a 100 shares and more than a dozen comments from would-be donators, one of them from as far away as Belgium.
Dallas Hazmat is currently carrying for the dog, but it will likely be turned over to a private contractor soon.
Meanwhile, pictures of Bentley are expected to be released on the DAS Facebook page later today, but they will be shown to Nina first. The dog is very important to the young nurse, who is the first person to contract the Ebola virus in America.
The dog is said to be “eating and wagging its tail.”
According to the CDC, there have been no reports of dogs or cars spreading the Ebola virus to people or other animals.
