ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Three apartment units in Arlington were destroyed by fire Thursday morning. The incident was first reported at about 1:15 a.m. at the Stone Canyon Apartments. Emergency crews arrived to find large flames and smoke coming out of the attic of a two-story structure.
The Stone Canyon Apartments are located in the 800 block of Cottoncreek Drive in the northern part of the city.
Thankfully, nobody was injured during the blaze. But neighbors were very concerned when they first saw the flames.
“It was kind of twisting out of the apartment,” said nearby resident Shea Brogdon. “It was interesting. I don’t see a lot of house fires very often, but that one was kind of different to me. But yeah, definitely a lot of fire. There was a lot of smoke.”
Police officers went door-to-door at the apartment complex to warn residents and get everybody out safely, all while the fire was still burning. This quick response in a tight area, neighbors said, likely helped save some lives.
Three of the apartment building’s units are now unlivable. However, all of the units in the building were damaged. Officials have not said just how many people this fire has displaced. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
