FIJI (CBS SF) — An earthquake with magnitude 6.9 occurred near Ndoi Island, Fiji, about 200 miles from Nuku’alofa, Tonga shortly before noon Pacific Daylight Time, on Saturday.

No tsunami warning was issued from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, according to an early report by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

The quake came a few hours after a magnitude 6 quake near Easter Island in the South Pacific caused a tsunami alert to be issued in coastal Chile.
