George Lucas is clearly very protective of his brand.

The Star Wars creator as well as his company Lucasfilm have filed a lawsuit against a New York brewing company named New York’s Empire Brewing for the name of its latest Bock variety, which they’ve named “Strikes Bock”.

Lucasfilm is arguing that “Empire’s Strikes Bock” (pretty clever, right?) might “infringe its trademark rights and cause confusion among consumers,” since Lucasfilm currently owns and operates a winery that produces Star Wars wine. Because obviously they make wine.

And for Empire’s defense? They claim that they’ve never had a problem with Lucas before.

Apparently, Empire has been brewing Strikes Bock for seven—SEVEN—years without so much of a peep out of Lucas & co., but still, he probably doesn’t really have much of a defense against the film giant, as the company is clearly banking on Star Wars familiarity to sell the beer.

Sorry Empire, but rename the beer you must.
