News

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER: Regular Full-Time: Responsibilities include writing stories and teases, editing video, and creating graphics and supers for newscasts, myfoxdfw.com and associated news partners. The position works closely with producers to help develop and format newscasts and communicates continuously with Reporters, Photographers, the Assignment Desk, Managers and other applicable employees or outside sources regarding story developments and changes. Must possess the ability to write stories for myfoxdfw.com and create content for social media platforms in coordination with producers and managers. Facilitate communication during newscasts regarding live shots and story development. Associate Producers must have the ability to overcome anticipated and unexpected changes when putting together newscasts.

Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field required. 2 to 3 years' experience as a TV Newscast Associate Producer in a small to medium to major television market required. Ideal candidate must be able to work under tight deadlines and have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters for mass media is essential. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Ideal candidate must be able to use newsroom computer systems, including Avid iNews and Avid search, editing and graphics programs.

PRODUCER {2 positions}: Regular Full-Time: Responsible for producing all elements of newscasts- including leads, stories, teases, and breakouts. Strong writing and show production skills are required. The candidate must have experience in mining social media information. Must be involved in the coverage of news events and participate in the selection and development of stories. Perform other duties as assigned.

Four (4) year college degree required. The candidate must possess five (5) – six (6) years' experience as a TV newscast producer in a medium to major market. Candidate must have strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events and excellent communication and people skills. He/she must handle pressure well including the ability to handle breaking news. Knowledge of TV production techniques and newsroom computer systems required.

REPORTER: Regular Full-Time: Provide original news content for KDFW FOX 4, myfoxdfw.com, and associated media partners by successfully accomplishing the following responsibilities: gather news information; write news stories, and doing taped and live interviews and reports for KDFW FOX 4, myfoxdfw.com and associated media partners. Must contribute to social media efforts; Initiate research and enterprise stories; Update and follow up on stories and communicate with managers and assignment editors about past, current and future stories. Complete required administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Perform other duties as assigned.

Must have a broad working knowledge of police procedures, the court system, and municipal, state and federal government operations and must have strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters of reporting for mass media. Ability to work under stressful conditions and deadlines is a must. Maintaining a strong roster of contacts and sources is required. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, and possess specific expertise in research and computer-assisted reporting. Must be a strong writer and communicator and have the ability to shoot and edit video. A professional appearance is essential. Must annunciate clearly, and maintain a clear delivery during both live and taped reports. 4–year college degree required with emphasis in Communications and Journalisms preferred. 3 -5 years' experience in a medium to major market.

SPORTS REPORTER: Regular Full-Time: Perform duties that include studio and field anchoring, live reporting, interviewing, research, writing, producing, editing, story and segment setup and special projects. Strong storytelling skills are required. Must have proven and consistent involvement and acumen on all social media platforms Generate story ideas, develop and produce packages and segments for TV and social media. Write and produce sports component of newscasts. Travel with various sports teams as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related discipline required. Candidate must be an excellent communicator who takes a creative approach to storytelling effectively from the field and on-set. Must be able to meet deadlines, work under extreme pressure and multi-task assignments. He/She must have extensive sports knowledge and exceptional news judgment. Candidate must be skilled in mining and posting information, video and pictures to social media platforms. He/She must be able to work a flexible work schedule. Five (5) years' experience as a Sports Reporter; or Anchor in a medium to major market required.

News Engineering

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Regular Full-Time: KDFW/KDFI currently has an opening for an Engineering Technician (Technical Director). The position is responsible for coding ELC-Sony's Enhanced Live Control System. Other responsibilities include but not limited to: tuning in microwave live shots, lighting and supporting newscasts. Experience with newsroom computer systems required. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and a passion for news content as well as an eagerness to collaborate with producers, supervisors and directors. He/she must have the ability to handle multiple technical responsibilities and changes during a fast paced newscast, including ELC, video and CG playback. This position requires someone with a creative eye who recognizes opportunities to showcase big stories and has the ability to explain the vision to the production crew.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor's degree preferred. Two [2] or more years full time experience, as a Technical Director, in a medium or large television market. Position requires the handling of multiple demands with professionalism and results. The ability to work under pressure and work in a cohesive team environment is a must. This person must have clear verbal skills and a clam, patient, positive demeanor. The person must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

STAGE MANAGER: Regular Full-Time: KDFW/KDFI currently has an opening for a Stage Manager. The position is responsible for coordinating all activities in the Studios and production areas of the Station. He/She will work closely with the News and Engineering departments. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, cueing and prompting the on-air talent during all newscasts and studio productions. Oversee the staging, lighting and general appearance of the studios. During live or recorded programming, the Stage Manager will take direction from the Show Director. Candidate will also operate the teleprompt system, coordinate live cut-ins from the field during studio production and set and/or change lighting and lighting cues as required for the shows.

Requirements, Skills & Abilities: Four year college degree preferred. Three [3] or more years full time experience as a Stage Manager in a medium or large television market. Position requires the handling of multiple demands with professionalism and results. The ability to work under pressure and work in a cohesive team environment is a must. This person must have clear verbal skills and a clam, patient, positive demeanor. Must be willing to work nights and weekends and be able to lift 25 to 50lbs.

 

Sales

LOCAL SALES ASSISTANT: Regular Full-Time: The Local Sales Assistant assists a team of Local Account Executives and a Local Sales Manager. The Local Sales Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day tasks involved with the local order activity process. These tasks include but not limited to: order entry, contract maintenance, contract reconciliation and the posting of contracts. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for the coordination and maintenance of Wide Orbit paperwork as well as the filing of local contracts. The Local Sales Assistant will be in constant communication with Local Account Executives, Local Sales Managers, the Traffic Department and Advertisers.

Four year college degree or equivalent work experience required. Must be highly organized and detail oriented. Good communication skills are essential along with the ability to construct and correct written presentations; as well as interact with a team of Local Account Executives. Previous experience at a television station preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) required and an aptitude for math is a must.
