MIAMI (CBSMiami) – And then there were four.

The City of Miami’s Mayor’s International Council has confirmed that a list of 50 candidates to be the city’s next police chief has been narrowed to four.

They are Malik Aziz, Hugo Barrera, Luis Cabrera and Rodolfo Llanes.

Aziz is currently deputy chief of the Dallas Police Department while Barrera is a special agent in charge of the Miami Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.

Cabrera is a deputy chief of Miami Police while Llanes is an assistant chief at the department.

Chief Manuel Orosa plans to retire at the end of January.

Miami City Manager Daniel Alfonso said last month that he will take his time choosing a new police chief, a selection that has drawn close attention from commissioners, who don’t have a say in the selection, according to the Miami Herald.

Angel Zayon, Chief of Communications and Protocol with the Mayor’s International Council, said they plan to interview the final four Thursday afternoon.

No word on when a final selection will be made.
