  1. Derrick Rose is Mr. Glass! After missing two seasons with two different knee injuries, everyone was waiting on the ‘Return of D. Rose’. The return, however, had the city of Chicago screaming “Not again” as Rose went down against the Cleveland Cavaliers spraining BOTH of his ankles. Rose should be fine and ready to hit the court again soon, but look for him to continue to have these little injuries throughout the season and possibly the rest of his career (we’re starting to think that this going to be the knock on him).
  2. The Oklahoma City Thunder will have to play catch up with the rest of the West. Just when you thought things were bad for the Thunder with Kevin Durant being out about six to eight weeks on a fractured foot, it got worse when Russell Westbrook broke his hand against the Los Angeles Clippers. Westbrook just went under the knife and is expected to miss at least four weeks of action. So with at least one month of basketball without their All Star players, OKC will have an uphill battle to get back into the top 4 of the Western Conference for the playoffs with the Clippers, Spurs, Warriors, Mavericks and Grizzlies all off to seemingly impressive starts to their seasons.
  3. Cleveland welcomes LeBron James back with open arms. Even though LeBron’s first game back left a little to be desired on the court (we’ll chalk it up to first game jitters), he came back to great fanfare. There were concerts, billboards and all new commercials from Nike and the NBA welcoming back ‘The King’. Game Two would prove to be business as usual for LeBron and the Cavs as they were able to take down the Chicago Bulls in overtime. With Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving riding shotgun the city of Cleveland is all buckled up and ready to go wherever LeBron James may be taking them.

Three to watch out for:

  1. New Orleans Pelicans’ big man Anthony Davis may be blossoming into the star that we thought he was going to be.
  2. Derrick Fisher and Phil Jackson may be just what the New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony needed after all.
  3. With LeBron James out of Miami, Chris Bosh looks to be the guy that we remember from the Toronto Raptors days.
