- RIP Tom Magliozzi. I've been listening to Car Talk for ten years. I will miss you.
- Someone ought to make a ringtone out of Tom's laugh, sell it for $.99, with proceeds going to Alzheimer's research and support.
- Tom, never knew you, but loved your spirit. You will be missed.
- Christopher MattMr. Ray, I'm writing from the "I don't know what the heck I'm going to listen to now Department
of my house". I unfortun...ately did not know your brother or your family personally but all the years growing up listening to car talk with my dad (who got me interested in Cartalk in the first place) made me feel like I was family. Like another gentleman said in another post, i've never cried about the passing of a celebrity (or in Mr Toms case nut ball lol) but this definitely made a grown man cry. I guess it may seem stupid to some but it feels like the world has lost a family member. It's funny the impact great people can have on someone's life even if they have never met or even spoken. For years, I have looked forward every week to hearing what kind of crazy topics were going to be discussed or nutty advice you guys were going to give. Whether it be good advice or bad advice, every word of it came from a big heart. Even writing this after the initial shock of hearing the news I am still struggling (and not successful ) to hold back tears. Mr. Tom will be sorely missed. I thank you Mr. Ray and your family for allowing us to get to know both of you over these many years. This feels like losing great friends whom we've spent much time together and I can't imagine what you and your family are going through at this time. I guess that it's okay to say Sleek Black Beauty again lol. I would even like to think that Melissa Peterson's dog Opal (if I recall the name correctly) finally likes you guys and your show now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the great times and laughs. I love you guys. RIP Mr. Tom. See More - I was just reminiscin
g with my boyfriend about some of our favorite bits on the show; then I saw the news of Tommy's pas...sing. We send our sympathies for his whole family's loss and we feel some portion of that hole in the world, such were his inroads into the hearts of his fans.
Something that came up before we learned the sad news: turns outmy boyfriend and I had both tried and tried AND TRIED to call in back in the '90's, Franc from Philly and I from Omaha. He wanted to share with his fellow Italian Easternersthat he'd finally gotten himself a nice, practical, easily-and -affordabl y-maintain ed ride: his '84 Maserati Biturbo! I had simply wanted to ask Tom and Ray whether they could refer me to a support group for owners of the Renault Alliance. Some things fade--that Renault died fast; some things endure--he 's still driving that Maserati. Tommy's gone but his laughter and wit endure. Every time we rev the Maserati --or curse the hell out of it and kick the tires--we' ll remember Tom! See More
Car Talk was with Chris Rodriguez and 2 others.
If you're near a radio, Fresh Air with Terry Gross is playing a classic interview with Tom and Ray.
Ha! Thanks to The New Yorker for this tribute.
Thank you for all your comments and kind words. We're listening to some of our favorite Tom moments now: http://www.cartalk.com/blogs/staff-blog/listen

Alert fan Jonas wants to know: Does this count as an open container? — with Brandi Lynn Sweets.
RAY: Generally speaking, extended warranties are not worth it. Why? Because if insurance companies didn't take in more money from premiums -- overall -- than they spent on repairs, they would stop selling the things.
TOM: But that doesn't mean it's not worth it to you. Maybe you're buying a car with unknown long-term reliability? Hint: You are.
