Public meeting seeks input on future of Fort Worth parks

Posted Oct. 24, 2014

Help envision the future of Fort Worth’s parks at a citywide public meeting to begin setting priorities in a holistic, proactive and prudent way.

The 2015 Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Master Plan will serve as a guide for planning and developing the city’s park system for the next five to 10 years. The plan will provide strategic direction to ensure that the existing park system is preserved and protected, and that the future park system is effectively planned and efficiently developed.

The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 1 in the Lecture Hall of the Deborah Beggs Moncrief Garden Center at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd.

“Fort Worth has experienced tremendous growth since the current 2004 Master Plan was adopted," said Richard Zavala, director of the Parks & Community Services Department. "It is important that the 2015 Master Plan reflect the needs and interests of the city’s diverse and growing population in order to serve the citizens in the coming years."

If you can’t attend the meeting, comment online.
