October 6, 2014 | ICC and SRCC Unite to Assure Safety, Effectiveness and Fast Access to Markets for Solar Industry. The International Code Council and the Solar Rating & Certification Corporation have agreed in principle to join forces and combine resources to support the solar industry and communities, and meet growing market demands. September 11, 2014 | Professional Development Council Named. The new Professional Development Council (PDC) was recently established to better coordinate career path resources for ICC Members and other stakeholders by utilizing shared knowledge between ICC Education and Certification programs. The ICC Board of Directors approved the new Council Policy #45 in April 2014 to create the PDC and by which it will be governed. This critical new Council, chaired by Cindy Davis, CBO, replaces both BIPS and the Education Committee. A major purpose of the PDC is to align the ICC Education and Certification Programs to ensure quality training is available to meet the needs of ICC Members, all ICC educational customers and ICC Certification holders while maintaining the credibility and validity of the ICC Certification Program.

NFPA's senior staff took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a fundraising effort to treat and cure ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Before the icy water was dumped over their heads, the senior staff threw down the gauntlet to 10 other organizations to participate in the fundraiser.
