Kathryn Omarkhail | LGBTQ Insider

KathrynKathryn is a southern belle originally from Mississippi. She has lived in Fort Worth since 1998 when she was accepted as a student by Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in a dual master’s degree program with the University of Texas. She has a passion to promote the philosophy that all people deserve dignity and respect. She does this by overworking herself through her profession and many volunteer opportunities.

She is the artistic director for QCinema, Fort Worth’s Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival. She began working behind the scenes with QCinema in 2003 helping set up before films. She moved into other areas such as membership director, fundraising, advertising and playing host to visiting filmmakers. During the 2007 film festival, that hosting led to a move from behind the scenes to on the screen in a featured documentary, Truths & Transformations.

She is a clinical social worker, saving lives employed as a manager and assessment clinician. She also moonlights in private work conducting adoption social studies and terminations/placements. Kathryn has served her community for three years as vice president of her neighborhood association, Fairness Fort Worth board member, Code Blue COP (Citizens on Patrol) and as a member of the Community Mobilization Committee. She is known to many as the paragon of virtue.
