Normally reserved for playing the ponies, come Halloween night, Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino will be transformed into a spine-chilling homage to the best horror films ever to come out of Hollywood. Promoters are hush-hush as to which horror movies will be depicted in the live-action sequences that will be staged inside the confines of former MI-VI nightclub (so as not to ruin the element of surprise) but promise audiences will be as spooked as they will be delighted. Each horror-movie character will also be partaking in choreographed dance routines throughout the night. Providing the soundtrack to this Hollywood Horror Nite is none other than renowned Miami Heat mixmaster DJ Irie. While not an L.A. guy per se, DJ Irie has been known to drop beats for many a celeb. And what good would a Halloween party be without a decent costume contest? Impress the judges this night and you could go home $750 richer. Hollywood Horror Nite takes place Friday, with doors opening at 10 p.m. at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, located at 901 S. Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach. This is a 21-and-over event. Tickets cost $40 to $45. Call 786-468-9402, or visit latenitegroup.com.
