This dude's awesome, and he embodies everything Walt Disney sought to create when he made these parks. And I certainly hope the Walt Disney Corporation gives him a raise for all the goodwill he's earning them.

[–]vbaby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While it's a nice story, it's also kind of required. They teach you in training to do this. It's part of the job at any of the parks.

[–]RedlineChaser 22 points23 points  (15 children)

I completely agree. Well...I dunno about a raise. That might be a stretch, but that is the Disney experience. Friendly, helpful, clean facilities...Disney gets it.

[–]supdunez 35 points36 points  (13 children)

He completely deserves a raise. This is above and beyond his duties. He's learning new languages to say "have a magical day", the image went viral, and is a powerful and free way to increase PR.

Why wouldn't he deserve a raise?

[–]dmcc16 19 points20 points  (0 children)

HE DESERVES A RAISE!

[–]RedlineChaser 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Read the article in our parent comment. This isn't particularly special. He is doing his job. I know that's a lost art these days when everyone feels like they're special and reinventing the wheel, but it's not.

So he deserves a raise? The retired man killing time to avoid his wife's honey-do lists and not, for example, a younger security starting a family who has been there longer and equally good with visitors?

[–]NotoriousVader 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Lol love how you assume you know his life.

[–]RedlineChaser 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Not much guessing required. It's in the linked article and this thread. Aren't the folks screaming "RAISE" making assumptions???

All I said was maybe. Nothing to go getting a hard-on about.

[–]NotoriousVader 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I don't agree with a raise considering this is probably in the employee guide. Sorry shouldn't have directly called you out.

[–]RedlineChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's OK. No big deal.

[–]cellequisaittout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got that info from the source article--no assumptions necessary.

[–]Hight5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really crying about this?

Do something meaningful before the day is over. Get off of here, stop complaining about a simple comment about a Disney security guard and do something.

[–]cubicledrone 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Fine. Throw him from a moving car then.

Could you possibly be a bigger ass? Because right now you're pulling gas giants out of orbit and shit.

[–]RedlineChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me chuckle. Thanks.

Does he deserve it.....Absolutely

Will he get it....Absolutely not.

Welcome back to the real world, Reddit.

[–]keepinithamsta -1 points0 points  (1 child)

He deserves to be fired for getting autographs instead of doing his job.

[–]SymmetryOfOrigin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dude, Disney encourages their employees to do stuff like this.

[–]felixfelix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...or at least treat him to a vacation at another theme park - Hedonism.

[–]eldeeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you, but my cousin worked at Disneyworld for a while. They don't spare anything, and they do pay well. Not to negate this man's kindness, but what he's doing is par for the course there.

[–]Route22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I remember someone like him. My niece was dressed up in a full body Mickey Mouse costume she had insisted on wearing. When we approached the bag check, one guard said, "Look alive fellas, here comes the boss"

[–]havoc21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freddie truly is an awesome guy, I was hired with him in January 2008 and was in the same security training class.

He truly is one of the nicest guys I have met, and as you can all see he really loves his job.

I have since moved on to a different line of work, but we actually ran into him at Magic Kingdom bag check last week.

Great to see that he is still there passing on the Disney magic.

[–]gloomdoom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I certainly hope the Walt Disney Corporation gives him a raise for all the goodwill he's earning them.

Apparently you've not been paying attention to the past 20 years where employees don't get shit for trying harder or being more skilled at what they're paid to do.

It's absolutely unfortunate but it's also absolutely the truth. And I would say in my experience, employers are more likely to take you for granted the better you are at your job.

[–]MaritMonkey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He puts children at ease when searching their bags by telling them he’s looking for red apples because Snow White is afraid of them.

What a nice human being.

[–]phasers_to_stun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to hug this guy

[–]nowhayjose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brought a tear to my eye. I think that he should get all the best or cutest signatures and compile them into one book, publish it and sell it at Disneyland as "Autographs of famous Disney Royalty"!
