Bill Clinton endorses Leticia Van de Putte in lieutenant governor race

Former President Bill Clinton endorsed Democratic state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte for lieutenant governor Wednesday in an email blast, an apparent effort to boost the candidate’s profile as she trails in the polls and in fundraising to her opponent, Republican state Sen. Dan Patrick of Houston.

“This race will be close but we can win it if we fight tooth and nail,” Clinton wrote of Van de Putte, a longtime senator from San Antonio. “Leticia has over 20 years of legislative experience and a vision for prosperity for all Texans, not just a few.”
