Come to the Grand Re-Opening of the Dalworth Recreation Center for a day full of fun. There will be entertainment by the Dallas Mavericks, tours of the facility, free food & prizes!


Prairie Lights Sneak-a-Peek 3-mile Run/Walk
Be the first to see the all new displays at Prairie Lights 2014 as you run, jog, walk or stroll through the lighted park. November 22 will be dedicated for those runners, joggers and fast walkers. November 23 is set aside for those that want walk and stroll through the lights.

Early registration ends Monday, November 17. Individual entry fee is $20 and teams of 10+ are only $15 per participant so get your family, friends and co-workers and form a team. (All pre-registered runners/walkers by November 17 will be guaranteed a commemorative long sleeve t-shirt)

Late Registration (November 18-21) will be $25. Race day registration will be $30.00.

The City of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department proudly introduces “Epic Encounters”, your opportunity to provide valued input to this Grand Prairie “Life Changing” project.

The EPIC Project
With an approval rate of 75%, Grand Prairie citizens voted to begin “The Epic” project. This legacy development will bring numerous additions to Central Park, including:  Major Recreation/Life Changing Center, indoor water park, amphitheater, library, trails, all-inclusive playground, and lake based recreation amenities.

Visit JoinTheEpic.com for more information and regular updates, but more importantly, to share how YOU and YOUR family can leave a footprint on this project, through your wants, desires and vision! This project is for every citizen, and we will begin having community “Envision the Epic Encounters” where you can provide input. In addition, we will have opportunities for you to submit suggestions on-line.

Central Park in Grand Prairie is destined to become one of the most life-changing parks in the state. Already featuring “The Summit”, five lakes, impressive boardwalk, and a world-class Public Safety Building, the fun is just beginning!

Your Epic Project is ready to start a new Grand Prairie legacy.  The fun begins in 2017!

Walnut Creek Paddling Trail at Joe Pool Lake
The Walnut Creek Paddling Trali at Joe Pool Lake, brought to you by The City of Grand Prairie Parks & Recreation Department and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, is a 4.9-mile marked trail that winds though Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake. The scenic trail features a variety of native plants and wildlife. Don’t have the right equipment? Don’t worry – Canoes, kayaks, paddles and life vests are available for rent at the park. Disc Golf Mini-Tournaments at Turner Park
A brand new 18-hole disc golf course is opwn at Turner Park. The Lone Star Lasers disc golf association is hosting “Mini-Tournaments” there for all ages and skill levels each Saturday morning, with a start time of 10 a.m. Come enjoy one of the fastest growing and most fun sports in the country!
