Extractive industries imperil everything that relies upon a clean environment: public health, fish and wildlife, and the global climate.

The scale of modern resource extraction is mind-boggling. Mines can be thousands of feet deep and miles across and visible from outer space; oil and gas wells are drilled from horizon to horizon.

The number and type of threats are extremely long-lasting; some of the projects we work on will need to be managed forever.

Earthworks focuses on the most significant threats to our most precious resources and fights to make sure that they are protected for future generations.

Protecting Land

Protecting Land

We work to prevent and minimize the landscape scale destruction that too often accompanies resource extraction.

Protecting Water

Protecting Water

We work to prevent the irresponsible mining and drilling that contaminates our rivers, lakes, streams and groundwater. The water that we drink.

Protecting Air

Protecting Air

Although air pollution from resource extraction is out of sight, for impacted communities (and Earthworks) it’s never out of mind.
