Chef Kent Rathbun launches event space in University Park

When chef Kent Rathbun’s comfort food place Blue Plate Kitchen closed in May, it wasn’t clear what Rathbun’s plans were for his Luther Lane storefront in University Park. Open another Jasper’s? Dream up a new restaurant?

This Rathbun knew: “I feel Blue Plate is a very successful restaurant, it’s just in the wrong spot.”

Word comes today that the restaurant will turn into the Kitchen at 6130, a private event space. (Similarly, restaurateur Dee Lincoln recently closed her Bubble Bar in Uptown to make it into an events-only space.)

The Kitchen at 6130 can fit 120 people seated or 165 standing. It will be home to Rathbun’s catering operations.
