Xavier Becerra, D-Califorina, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, will be at Nuestra Clinica del Valle in San Juan today to announce a new open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act. It begins on November 15. Becerra will be joined at the news conference by San Juan Mayor San Juanita Sanchez.

Speaking at a Rio South Texas Economic Council held a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Weslaco EDC Executive Director Joey Treviño said Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp is going to make a big education announcement in Weslaco on Friday. He said it involves engineering and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
