Claudia Amezcua

Bio (click to expand) picture Claudia Amezcua is freelance multimedia journalist based in Los Angeles, CA. Her clients include CNN, KFON-TV, and InlandEmpire.com. Previously, she served as anchor/reporter for 90.1 KSAK where she won numerous awards in entertainment reporting and best use of sound. Additionally, Claudia dabbles in sports blogging from a women's perspective via her blog A Chicks Guide 2 Sports. Bio (click to expand) picture Jennifer Nicole Sullivan is the vintage clothing writer/editor at About.com in New York City. She also writes about fashion, arts and entertainment for Newport Mercury and various publications. Previously, Jennifer was a copywriter at Real Simple (a Time Inc. magazine), a staff writer at Newport Mercury in Rhode Island and a features reporter at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. Her work has appeared in Quartz (QZ.com), Real Simple, Quill, Rhode Island Home & Design, Military Spouse, Newport Patch and several other publications.

Additionally, Jennifer lived in Yokosuka, Japan, for two years and taught English to Japanese children and adults. The Dallas native graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with degrees in radio-TV-film and theater and from The University of Rhode Island with a master’s degree in English. Brandi Broxson

Bio (click to expand) picture Brandi Broxson is a magazine and digital editor at Naples Daily News in Naples, Florida. Her work has been featured in Orlando Magazine, Orlando Wedding, Naples Illustrated, WHERE Magazine, Orlando Sentinel, Naples Daily News and its sister publications. In addition to Generation-J, she also serves on SPJ's Digital committee as Google+ coordinator. Brandi graduated from the University of Central Florida with a journalism degree and has been part of the ever-changing industry for eight years. Cass Herrington

Bio (click to expand) picture Cass Herrington covers local news for WNIN and is the host and producer of The Trend, the weekly public affairs show.

Cass transitioned to WNIN in August 2013 after interning for the arts & culture desk at WBEZ, the public radio station in Chicago. She had previously reported for the public radio stations in Louisville and Lexington, while completing her undergraduate degree in journalism, international studies, and Spanish at the University of Kentucky.

Cass’ byline has traveled around the world, thanks to a story she wrote in college about wearing the hijab, or Muslim headscarf, for one month in college. She has a special interest in covering immigration, science and diversity.

Bio (click to expand) picture Mike Brannen is a newscast producer for KSTP, the ABC affiliate in Minneapolis-St.Paul. Before that, he was a producer for KIRO7 in Seattle, where he led the 4:30 a.m. show to a #1 share in the U.S. for that time slot. He received an MA in Broadcast Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2010 and received his Bachelor of Journalism degree the year before. Jackie Ingles
Bio (click to expand) picture Jacqueline Ingles is a multimedia journalist for WFTS-TV, the ABC affiliate in Tampa, Florida. She specializes in crime and courts in Pinellas County. She writes, shoots, edits, and fronts her own work while also doing all of her own web work. Prior to WFTS, Jacqueline worked for almost three years at KXAN in Austin, Texas, as a one-woman-band MPJ. While in Texas, she covered the devastating drought and wildfires. Jacqueline's work appeared numerous times on CNN during her time in Austin. Jacqueline also worked at WCTV's Valdosta, Georgia, bureau and at MTV News as a political correspondent during President Barack Obama's campaign. A native of Chicago, Jacqueline received a masters in broadcast journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University-Chicago. She held two internships at WBBM and WLS in Chicago. Her print journalism work been published in the Northwest Indiana Times, Chicago Syndicate, Beep!, and the New Mexico Free Press.

Ashley Jost

Bio (click to expand) picture Ashley Jost is the higher education reporter at the Columbia Daily Tribune in Columbia, Missouri. She covers primarily the University of Missouri's flagship campus, as well as other area colleges and issues pertaining to higher education in Missouri. She previously covered the Missouri legislature during the 2013 session for a small, weekly news magazine. Ashley is a 2014 Scripps graduate and a 2014 Harper Memorial Scholar.

Patrick Kane
Bio (click to expand) picture Nikons in hand, Pat Kane covers the stories of the Tri-Cities of Virginia for The Progress-Index of Petersburg. As multimedia editor, on a normal day he'll shoot, write and edit stories while contributing to the paper's social media accounts. Pat joined the Virginia Pro Chapter board in 2008 and he presently serves as chapter vice president. He chaired the 2011 Region 2 Spring Conference hosted in Norfolk, Virginia.

After growing up all over the globe as a Navy brat, Pat attended Virginia Commonwealth University. He led a team at The Commonwealth Times to a first place Mark of Excellence Award for breaking news in 2007.

Andrew Seamen
Bio (click to expand) Andrew is a medical journalist for Reuters Health in New York. Before coming to Reuters Health, he was a Kaiser Media Fellow at Reuters’s Washington, D.C. bureau, where he covered the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

In 2011, Andrew graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he studied investigative journalism as a Stabile Fellow and was named “Student of the Year.” Andrew also graduated with his B.A. from Wilkes University in 2011.

He’s won numerous awards throughout his short career, including being named a 2010 Tom Bigler Scholar for ethical standards in journalism, the 2009 Robert D.G. Lewis First Amendment Award, the 2009 and the Arthur H. Barlow National Student Journalist of the Year Award.


Lynn Walsh

Bio (click to expand) picture Lynn Walsh is an Emmy award-winning journalist who has been working in investigative journalism at the national level as well as locally in California, Ohio, Texas and Florida. Currently she leads the KNSD investigative team at the NBC TV station in San Diego, California, where she is the Investigative Executive Producer.

Most recently, she was working as data producer and investigative reporter for the E.W. Scripps National Desk producing stories for the 30+ Scripps news organizations across the country. Before moving to the national desk, she worked as the Investigative Producer at WPTV, NewsChannel 5, the Scripps owned TV station in West Palm Beach, Florida. She has won state and local awards as well as multiple Emmy’s for her stories. She loves holding the powerful accountable and spends more time than she would like fighting for access to public information.

Her passion lies in telling multimedia stories that deliver hard hitting facts across multiple platforms. She describes herself as a "data-viz nerd" who is obsessed with new online tools to share information on the web and mobile applications.

She is a contributor to the Radio Television Digital News Association blog and serves as Secretary-Treasurer for SPJ and is a member of SPJ’s FOI, Generation J and Ethics committees.

Lynn is always interested in new projects surrounding FOI, public information access, mobile reporting tools, social media and interactive journalism. She is a proud Bobcat Alumna and graduated from the Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
