Toyota will sponsor day-long Hello Texas party in Plano

Toyota will throw a day-long “HelloTexas” block party in Plano on Monday to mark the automaker’s decision to move its North American headquarters to the city.

Company CEO Jim Lentz and Texas Gov. Rick Perry will be at the event, and Lentz is expected to make an announcement of some sort shortly after noon.

In addition, Lentz will grant brief interviews with the media — his first since Toyota announced its relocation in May.

The event, which begins at noon and runs until 8 p.m., will be at Bishop Park at LegacyTown Center.

It will feature day-long music and entertainment, as well as complimentary food and beverages.

Among the performers will be Elaine Garcia, Curtis Grimes, Bobby Pulido, Lone Star Attitude and Jack Ingram.

Over the next 30 months or so,Toyota will move its headquarters from Torrance,Calif., to Plano, where it will consolidate all of its far-flung divisions at one campus location for the first time.

As many as 4,000 employees and their families will make the move.
