Southwest Airlines might be going international this summer, but they are also crossing county lines into Plano.

The airlines donated $500,000 to the Plano ISD Academy High School for naming rights of the new campus’ fabrication lab.

In addition, the airlines will offer paid internships to students from the district and will donate airline tickets to help offset travel expenses for district officials and to be used by the education foundation for fundraising efforts.

Academy high officials will determine how to use the funds for the school.

Actually, Southwest has long worked with Plano ISD on various efforts and an executive from the airlines serves on the district’s education foundation board.
