V2 Cigs Review

As to give more of an accurate review of the V2cigs ultimate starter kit I decided to wait. It’s been about 12 months of consistent use and I will have to say I’m impressed.

You can tell immediately that v2 has paid great attention to detail as you open the box. Generally, the box is not something worth mentioning, unless you’re talking about any apple product or the V2 Cigs starter box.

The starter kit gives you no choice but to fully customize what you receive in the package. So I’ll show you what I received and go over what I liked and didn’t like.

V2 Cigs Batteries:

I received 3 standard sized batteries. The batteries themselves come in 3 sizes: Standard, Shorty, Long. The standard batteries have decent battery life which can compare to smoking approximately 6-8 cigarettes before they go into blue blink of death mode. Otherwise known as “charge me now”. I highly advise getting at least two batteries because there’s really no telling when the battery is going to run out of juice. (except with the new V2 EX-Series batteries which now have a battery meter)

My personal recommendation is to go with the AUTO type switch over MANUAL. Auto feels a lot more like puffing a real cigarette vs. manual where you have to press the button. I also prefer it because you can use it hands free say, as I’m typing this review. I have to warn, there have been a few occasions where the Auto e-cig battery did not automatically shut off after drawing vape from it. If this happens it will continue to heat the atomizer (or heating element) until it starts to burn the e-liquid resulting in a harsh cough inducing smoke. UNSCREW the cartridge IMMEDIATELY. The battery does have an auto shut-off feature if this happens or if you’ve been smokin too much!

The V2 EX Battery operates at 4.2 volts, 280 mAh. Length: 100 mm /3.94″. 135 mm /5.31” with Flavor Cartridge attached. Diameter: 9.5 mm /0.38″. It also has tiny LED lights that glow during each puff showing you how much battery remains. I highly recommend going with the ex-series, these make smoking the ecig less conspicuous when in public places, a definite plus.

V2 Cigs also has disposable line. While they have the same great taste and vapor hit as the rechargeable batteries, I’m not a big fan of them because once they’re out you’re done. My experiences is that they don’t last but a few days. They are good if you do tend to lose your cigarettes a lot (like me). There have been many occassions where a quick bar outing or night club has ended in a lost $30 battery. For those cases the disposable is the way to go.

V2 Cartridges/Ex-Blanks/Ex-Cartridges:

These come in a package similar to nicely air sealed chewing gum. The flavors really taste like what they say. If you’re a smoker who would like to quit, this gives you an easy way to test a flavor that you’re used to. The best thing about these cartridges are they are reusable! You can refill them with your favorite e-juice and reuse the cartridge when it starts to get dry. Try not to wait for them to start burning because it may damage the heating element.

I have reused them a number of times before I just end up replacing it. Another good thing about these cartridges is they last decently long. V2 pre-soaks the cartridge very well and as far as cartridge life, they say it’s about equivalent to a pack of cigs, but of course, it really depends on your battery type (manual vs. auto), lung capacity, etc.

The new V2 Ex-Cartridges (released in April 2014) are the hot new style cartridges that no longer contain the e-liquid soaked in cotton mesh, rather a very unique patented tank style design.

V2 Ex-Blanks

I personally love these mini-clearomizers. They come in packs of three and make it easy to refill with your own e-juices should you not prefer the cartridge method. One thing I can definitely say is that these won’t leak and are much more robust than tank style vaporizers. Plus they fit the same profile giving a very clean look.

V2 Accessories:

In the ultimate starter kit you get a USB charger with AC adapter with a nicely positioned “v2cigs” logo.

You get a V2 Power-Cig that can be connected via USB to either your included car adapter or your computer. A neat accessory to have at your desk I might add.

A lanyard in case you wanted to wear your e-cig around your neck.

A metal carry case, this can hold only standard size and shorty sized batteries. If you have a long you need to go XL but I would recommend just getting the portable charging case. I also don’t like that you can’t fit the cig with cartridge attached so I hardly use this item.

And last but not least, probably my favorite part about the kit, the Portable Charging Case XL. This comes in 3 different colors, I prefer the slick “MacbookPro-esque” brushed aluminum finish. The case allows you to charge your battery on the go, along with store up to 3-4 cartridges. My recommendation is to keep two batteries because you’ll find yourself charging your battery more often than you think. This way you can keep your fresh battery ready.

The charging case is a MUST HAVE accessory! I recommend the small charging case over the XL just because it is a little more portable at the expense of charge capacity. Only downside is it won’t fit the longest V2 batteries nor will it fit the Ex-series battery.

The XL version has a 2300mA/H capacity. You simply charge it overnight with any AC adapter and connect it via Mini USB. It has a battery indicator along with a charge indicator which makes it easy to see how much juice the charge case has before you have to recharge the case.

I found that the XL case recharges the standard battery around 6-8 times.

Final Thoughts:

I would have to say that V2Cigs has really paid attention to detail with everything from the thick vapor, strong flavors, to the quality of the batteries. My personal experience with customer service was smooth and satisfying giving them an 5/5 stars for communication. On one occasion I did mention that an ex-battery I received had a few issues with drawing vapor, I had no difficulty getting a replacement.

Although the smaller electronic cigarettes still won’t be able to produce the thick “hookah like” vapor achieved in tank style “Vapes” or even “Drippers”, V2 Cigs do an extremely good job.

In fact, I actually prefer smoking these for a few reasons:

1. In addition to the vapor, I enjoy the solid feel and weight along with the portability aspect.
2. V2 Cigs are much more robust and definitely won’t break or leak in your pocket. Often an issue of the larger “EGO-style” vaporizers.

For those reasons alone I now have switched to smoking these 99% of the time over my EGO Twist.

Update: After 12 months of using these I can highly recommend them, especially to someone who is interested in quitting tobacco smoking as this does the best job of mimicking a real cigarette.
