In what world is being killed by a dark demonic force a “happy ending”?

Is no one going to talk about the fact that Twisty was mentally disabled after his “mum dropped him on his head?” Not to say that excuses his actions of murder and worse, but let’s be real here- he had NO IDEA that what he was doing was wrong. In his mind, he was doing right by the children- he was a child himself and couldn’t think of anything better than eating candy all day and playing with toys. Even in the end he was convinced he was a good person because he wanted the kids to be happy- it never crossed his mind that killing was wrong. That’s the TRUE scary thing about Twisty- that people like this exist who never know the boundaries of good and evil. It wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know either… THAT’s why he deserves the pity of Mordrake- because how can you do no wrong when you don’t know what’s wrong or right?

The whole reason Edward took Twisty was because of Twisty’s unflinching evil convictions. Edward was looking for the worst of the worst and he had found that in Twisty. Elsa while certainly deluded, was treated fine in the script. Edward berated Elsa but ultimately left her alive, perhaps to redeem herself, as Edward did with all the other freaks in the troupe. Remember he was looking for just one, special freak, to join his ghost troupe.
