Purdue landed a commitment from Class of 2016 point guard C.J. Walker on Tuesday afternoon.

“Just want to thank friends, family, coaches but I’ve decided to commit to Purdue University,” Walker tweeted. “Boiler Up.”

Walker is a 5-foot-9 point guard from Arsenal Tech in Indianapolis, the same program that produced current Kentucky freshman Trey Lyles. He won a state championship this season. He played his AAU ball for Speice Indy Heat. He picked Purdue over Butler, Cincinnati and a couple of other schools in the midwest.

Walker is Purdue’s first commitment in the Class of 2016.
