VCU’s band ‘The Peppas’ will be doing Haka War Chants this year (VIDEO)

Our affinity for VCU’s band The Peppas is not really a secret, but this will only make their legend grow.

The Peppas will be doing Haka War Chants during games this season, which was a dance done by the Maori people of New Zealand. It was traditionally done before battle, which is why you see sports teams from New Zealand doing the dance before games.

This isn’t the only awesome thing that The Peppas do. They became a sensation for this song during VCU’s run to the Final Four in 2011:

    The Peppas have also had a great deal of education and discussion about the cultural importance and meaning of the traditional Haka, and respect for it. Very impressive group of dedicated young people.
