Brit Awards 2015: Ant and Dec confirmed to take over from James Corden

The popular TV duo will present the music ceremony live from London's O2

Primetime kings Ant & Dec are returning to host the Brit Awards 2015.

The Bafta-winning TV duo will present the event, broadcast live on ITV from London's O2 Arena on Wednesday 25 February to music fans watching from home.

"We're really excited to be hosting the Brits again next year, it is undoubtedly the biggest night in the British music calendar," Ant & Dec said in a statement. "We're especially excited now we're number one recording artists ourselves.

"We'll be offering our advice to the fledgling pop stars backstage as to how to have a number one hit, as long as they're prepared to wait 19 years for their records to top the chart like ours did!"

Ant & Dec began their broadcasting career as PJ and Duncan in BBC children's drama Byker Grove, before making their own TV shows and launching SM:TV and CD:UK through their own production company in 1998.

Since then, they have presented the high-profile likes of Pop Idol, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and Britain’s Got Talent. They hosted the Brits in 2001.

Together, Ant & Dec have won a staggering 26 National Television Awards, six British Comedy Awards and a Bafta.

Not to mention their music career – fourteen Top 20 hits including re-released 2013 chart-topper "Let's Get Ready To Rhumble", three multi-platinum albums and the official World Cup anthem for the 2002 England football team.

"Ant & Dec are two of the most popular TV broadcasters this country has ever produced and it’s a real honour to have them take centre stage once again to host the Brits," said Max Lousada, Brits chairman.

"It's great that these two pillars of British TV will be part of a night about celebrating icons in British music."

James Corden hosted the Brit Awards for the fifth and final time last year, while past presenters have included Peter Kay, The Osbournes, Chris Evans, Cat Deeley, Davina McCall and memorably, Russell Brand.

Tracey Emin will be designing next year's Brits statue, following in the path of hat designer Philip Treacy punk-inspired 2014 creation.
