“I”m often asked whether I believe in climate change. I now reply just with ‘Do you believe in gravity?’ “—Neil DeGrasse Tyson, host of “Cosmos” and noted astrophysicist

Welcome to the Texas Drought Project, a five-year-old non-profit organization founded to educate Texans on the connections between drought and climate change. We bring the latest research on these issues to the discussion, from peer-reviewed and well-respected sources, not only from experts like Dr. James Hansen of NASA and Dr. Richard Seager of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, but also from our own top-notch advisory board, which includes well-known scientists like Dr. Katharine Hayhoe and Dr. David Staehle, but also author-activists like Bill McKibben and Maude Barlow, as well as Dr. Char Miller and Dr. William DeBuys.

Read through our resources, learn more about these important topics and stay tuned for information about events in your area that can connect you to other concerned Texans in your own community. Let’s all work together to make change happen on every level.

Shows how changes in surface temperature, rainfall, and sea level are largely irreversible for more than 1,000 years after carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are ended.
