Southlake Youth Action Commission
Purpose
The Southlake Youth Action Commission is open to all students in the 7th-12th grades that reside in Southlake and/or attend schools in the Carroll Independent School District (CISD). Students must complete and submit an application and may have no more than two absences per year. Membership must be renewed each year. The Southlake Youth Action Commission brings youth-related issues to the City Council’s attention, and participates in community service projects throughout the year.

Meetings
  • 4:00 p.m.
  • First and Third Wednesday of every month during the school year
  • Southlake Town Hall
    1400 Main Street
  • Public welcome to attend all meetings

Youth of the Year Nominations
S.Y.A.C. in partnership with the Southlake Chamber of Commerce, accepts nominations for the “Youth of the Year” Award to recognize an outstanding Youth in the community.  The award is presented at the Chamber’s Annual Awards Banquet.

Eligibility

  1. All 7th through 12th grade students who live in Southlake or attend a C.I.S.D. school.
  2. Must maintain a minimum of 85 (1-100 scale) or a 3.5 (1-4 scale) grade point average.
  3. Must have demonstrable leadership skills and must be a positive influence on peers.
  4. Must be actively involved in his/her community and school.

Guidelines:
 
  1. Nominations may only be made by teachers and counselors. Relatives may not nominate youth.
  2. Entries may be faxed to (817) 748- 8027, emailed to Ashley Newhart or mailed to the Parks and Recreation offices at 1400 Main St, Suite 210, Southlake, TX 76092.
  3. Please attach additional paper as necessary, and include nominees name on each sheet.
