Dallas Mavericks Media Day 2014-2015 Dallas Mavericks Media Day 2014-2015

The NBA is full of talent, personality and suspense. During the offseason, It’s easy to forget how wonderful the league can be. So, I’ve assembled 67 Reasons I’m Excited For Next Season (67RIEFNS). They’ll be presented in no particular order.

Since Dirk Nowitzki became a full-time starter, the Mavericks’ offensive rating has ranked:

  • 7th
  • 4th
  • 1st
  • 1st
  • 1st
  • 4th
  • 1st
  • 2nd
  • 8th
  • 5th
  • 10th
  • 8th
  • 22nd
  • 14th
  • 3rd

For a couple years after Dallas broke up its championship core, the offense fell below average and then ticked barely above it. But with a re-stocked backcourt featuring Monta Ellis and Jose Calderon, the Mavericks returned to near the top of the NBA.

Essentially, Nowitzki still gives him team a chance to form an elite offense around him. It just requires the right weapons around him, and this year’s supporting cast should be even better than last year’s.

Chandler Parsons is a versatile up and comer. Tyson Chandler is an elite finisher at the rim. Ellis is a year further removed from the horrific Bucks offense that brought out his worst qualities. Between Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris and Raymond Felton, Dallas should find  a solid point guard, and Parsons can defray some of the position’s responsibilities.

That’s plenty of talent, enough that a team with Nowitzki – one of the most-dynamic offensive players in NBA history – could score at an elite level.

Nowitzki, 36, has only so much time left in his career. It’s good to see Dallas making the most of it.

Montai Ellis is a microwave scorer, Mavs are going to be a dangerous team

Agreed this team could be very dangerous. As long as everyone checks their ego at the door and plays to win. Dirk and Chandler are pretty unselfish so that should help to spread the culture throughout the team. Mavs are my sleeper to come out the west.

Gotta get all those “RIEFNS” all out the way before tip off tonight huh? Not understanding why 67 was the number, clearly too many.

Mavs are going to the team no one wants to face in the post season.
Expect the Mavs to pull off an upset, maybe 2.

I’d say the Spurs and Mavericks are gonna be at the top of the west. The conference finals are going to be bloody.

Does this writer actually watch basketball?I’m a knicks fan and watched every game tyson played and i threw up in my mouth a little bit an “tyson is an elite finisher at the rim” smh If it is not a perfect lob where he can dunk it with both hands he CAN’T finish at all. He is horrible around the rim if he has to make even the smallest adjustment to avoid a defender. He also grabs rebounds 3-5 feet from the basket and doesn’t even look to put it back up, he justs passes it out. Ten years in the league an this guy has not one single offensive move. No jump hook, no drop step or turn around jumper, nothing, nada, zip, zero, stamingua. He is OVERATED on defense and last year bargani averaged more blocks than him at 1.4 blk. per game. He is lazy and takes a lot of plays off on both sides of the ball and is always hurt. I’m glad he is gone. For every game where he looked good he had three where he did nothing.

You should watch more than Knicks games, or remember the Chandler of a couple years ago. He’s healthy again.
