#ActOnClimate Today!
October 22, 2014 was historic. Today we showcased nearly 750,000 public comments (that's three quarters of a million, and counting) from people like you to EPA Water's Deputy Assistant Administrator, Ken Kopocis, staff from US Army Corp of Engineers, and to Maryland’s US Senator Ben Cardin. We showed them the broad public support for EPA's proposal to protect the nation's streams and wetlands. They were enthralled. Kopocis said at one point, "Clean water provides a boom to the economy...brewers, recreation & agriculture depend on clean water." And it’s TRUE, all the little things we take for granted every day absolutely depend on clean water and healthy watersheds.
In 2013 and 2014, the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to block federal agency progress in all of Clean Water Action’s priority campaign areas, including restoring Clean Water Act protection to streams and wetlands and cleaning up toxic coal ash. Similar measures have not been able to pass in the U.S. Senate.
Elections 2014! The mid-term elections are nearly here. From local to state to federal, the candidates we elect on November 4th will have a huge impact on the policies and laws that affect our water, our famiies, and our communitie. We need every Clean Water Voter to get out and vote. And bring your family and friends.
