Former Prime Prep star Emmanuel Mudiay chose to play in China — for some pretty good money — instead of at SMU this season. SMU coach Larry Brown was asked about it Wednesday in New York.
Will this lead to a trend of high school stars choosing to play overseas for a year before getting a shot at the NBA?
Brown’s response:
“I think it will get worse. If he’s [Mudiay] as good as I know he is and he’s the first, second or third pick in the draft — which I’m pretty confident he will be — I’m worried that a lot of kids will think about it. … They won’t think of so many kids that have come out early and are not playing anymore.”
