Cedar Hill WR DaMarkus Lodge named U.S. Army All-American Player of the Week for his three-TD game against rival DeSoto

DaMarkus Lodge gave everyone a good look at what he could do on Thursday night, on a nationally-televised game against top-ranked DeSoto.

Lodge — who curiously didn’t get two-man blanket coverage all night, at times isolated one-on-one with a cornerback — ran roughshod over DeSoto, catching seven passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns, in a 65-42 win.

It’s evident that the nation was watching; Lodge was named this week’s U.S. Army All-American Player of the Week for his performance.

Cedar Hill coach Joey McGuire said after the game that Lodge’s performance should squash any bad press the senior had received after decommitting from Texas A&M — with naysayers calling him out for not wanting to battle for playing time in A&M’s loaded, and young, receiving corps.

“He’s got a lot of bad press. You have people saying he might not be able to compete,” McGuire said. “I think he showed the nation, on national TV, that he can compete with anybody.”

Here’s the press release:
