Nevada Community QB Jordan Graham throws 9 TD passes, falls one short of state record

Nevada Community senior quarterback Jordan Graham threw nine touchdown passes in Friday’s 67-62 win over Emory Rains. That’s one short of the state record for most touchdown passes in a game, which Refugio’s Travis Quintanilla set with 10 against Taft in 2012.

According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine, Graham is the fourth player in state history with nine touchdown passes in a game, joining Wesley Harris of Fort Worth Southwest in 2011, Preston Townley of Huffman Hargrave in 2012 and Cullen Grubbs of Mount Pleasant in 2013. Graham was 30-of-39 passing for 501 yards in Friday’s win as Nevada Community improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in District 5-4A Division II.

Wide receiver Tay Madkins had 11 catches for 189 yards and five touchdowns and also had a punt return for a touchdown for Nevada Community on Friday.
