On September 20th.2014, the NYC350 sponsored A Global Climate Treaty Why the US Must Lead was held in NYC at New York Society for Ethical Culture

This video features Ambassador Marlene Moses, Chair, Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS). She has been the Permanent Representative to the United Nations for the Republic of Nauru since 2005. She also serves as Nauru’s Ambassador to the United States, Israel, Venezuela, and Cuba. From 2009 to 2011, Ambassador Moses was Chair of the Pacific Small Island Developing States at the United Nations. During her tenure, she successfully spearheaded a campaign that led to the UN Security Council recognizing the link between climate change and security in July 2011.

The program focused on why we need an international treaty and why it is critical for us to mobilize support to demand that the U.S. assume a leading role in the treaty negotiations. Other speakers at the event included; Mary Robinson, Bill McKibben , Sean Sweeney, Cecil Corbin-Mark, Lester Brown, Donald Brown, Annie Willis with opening remarks from NYC Council Members Helen Rosenthal (District 6) and Donovan Richards (District 31)
