Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) More than two-dozen employees of i3 Electronics no longer have jobs at the Endicott company, according to President Robert Nead.

On Monday, Nead announced the reduction of the company's workforce by 28 employees.

i3 Electronics, formerly known as Endicott Interconnect Technologies, gained its new name and new president in November 2013.

During the transition, 500 former EIT employees were offered jobs with i3.

Nead did not say whether more layoffs should be expect during the transitional period.

He cited "lower-than-expected sales orders" as reason for the reduction.

"Our goal remains to make the right business decisions that position the company for the future of advanced manufacturing, with as many high quality paying jobs in the Binghamton area as possible," said Nead. "We appreciate the dedication and commitment of all our employees."
