Anti-Hydrofracking Activists Hope to Pressure Cuomo into Health Impact Study

On another front, anti-hydrofracking activists are reaching out to the donors of Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Organizers are hoping to pressure the governor into starting a comprehensive public health impact study on hydrofracking.

About 500 donors to Cuomo's campaign will receive this letter. The letter talks about how activists claim the current health department review is inadequate.

Writers are hoping donors will pick up their phones and reach out to the governor.

What impact can fracking have on our health?

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Do you know what impact fracking has on our health?

That was the question being posed by representatives of environmental groups and citizen organizations.

Cuomo foes dog him on fracking

ALBANY – Plenty has changed since Gov. Andrew Cuomo took office nearly four years ago.

Same-sex marriage has been legalized. Local property-tax increases have been capped. Income-tax brackets have been tweaked. Tougher gun-control measures are in place.

The gas-rich Marcellus Shale, however, is the same as it ever was in New York.

Auburn reinstates ban on accepting gas drilling wastewater

AUBURN | For the second time in four years, Auburn officials have banned the city's waste water treatment plant from accepting water produced as a byproduct of natural gas drilling.

Members of the Auburn City Council re-instituted the ban during Thursday night's meeting by a 4-1 vote. The results were met with a round of applause from a handful of spectators at Auburn City Hall.

Plan of Action Until Election Day/More Amazingly Powerful Letters Sent to Andrew Cuomo/Prominent Fractivists Respectfully Write Green Groups

Greetings,

Congratulations on yet another day without even one fracked shale gas production well anywhere in New York.

As you will see from the Primary Election clips below, we succeeded beyond all expectations in making Marcellus Shale fracking a critical reelection issue for Andrew Cuomo. Fractivists are repeatedly credited with playing a key role in helping Zephyr Teachout win an unprecedented share of Gubernatorial Primary votes.

I write today to outline how we can use that achievement to our best advantage in the weeks to come.

Pegula's riches come from fracking, not allowed in NY

ALBANY – During a campaign stop Wednesday in Buffalo, Gov. Andrew Cuomo heaped praise on Terry Pegula.

And with good reason: Pegula and his wife, Kim, had just reached a tentative $1.4 billion deal to buy the Buffalo Bills and keep the football team in western New York.

Thank You and Congratulations on Yet Another Historic Fractivist Day

Greetings,

Before all is said and done by the end of this extraordinarily important day, I want to commend all the Fractivists who worked so hard on behalf of this campaign during the last few weeks, recent months and nearly five long years.

Dear Governor Cuomo:

I have the honor of presenting a coalition letter with more than 1,500 signatories which respectfully requests that you withdraw the Marcellus Shale Draft Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS) because it is nearly five years old, lacks any current information whatsoever and would inadequately protect New York from fracking hazards.
