Please scroll down to submit this letter of support (and any additional text) to the offices of NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, one of our few elected officials who has demanded that we understand the science and real environmental and health effects of fracking.  He has just filed a lawsuit against the federal government because it has neglected to conduct a full environmental study of the potential effects fracking would have on the Delaware River Basin, source of NYC’s and much of Upstate New York’s drinking water.

Please let him know New Yorkers support his courage to protect us over the interests of the gas industry.  This online letter will take less than one minute to sign.

Dear State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman:

Thank you for your good work, and for your perseverance in the fight to protect our region’s water from contamination by hydraulic fracturing for gas.
As you may know, the EPA is currently studying hydrofracking’s impacts on drinking water and groundwater. Yet that study does not examine the impacts of this industrial process on the air, land, or climate. At about $2 million, the EPA study is grossly underfunded. Still, it is unreasonable to believe that the results of future studies would counter existing knowledge about the devastating impacts of this unconventional hydrocarbon extraction method.

Please use your powers as Attorney General of New York to call for a statewide and regional ban on hydrofracking.

Please also challenge the Obama Administration to halt hydrofracking nationwide, given the Administration’s lack of due diligence in reviewing the impacts of this process.
